Review 2013 Blanc de Noirs

2013 Blanc de Noirs

(C$29.95 Incl. tax)
Our 2013 Blanc de Noirs is made from both the Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. This sparkling wine is a wonderful example of Niagara’s exceptional cool climate Pinot Noir producing region.

Making a white wine from a red grape requires great care. The fruit was hand harvested from two different vineyards, including the Young Family Organic Vineyard. Juice from gentle, whole berry pressing was fermented in stainless steel. On lees for three years, yeast contact in the bottle harmonized all of the elements together in this delicate, Brüt style wine. The result is a beautiful, copper coloured wine with a very fine mousse and delicate effervescence.

On the nose, Pinot Noir characteristics of rose petal and cherry dominate, while the palate expresses strong notes of Ontario strawberries, green apple and citrus, with a balanced, toasty undertone. The finish is long, dry and refreshing with excellent acidity.

Our Blanc de Noirs pairs well with rich sauces, smoked fish and almonds. Some of our favourite dishes to compliment this sparkling are glazed beet salad, mushroom risotto, oysters and scrambled eggs with truffle oil. For the perfect cheese pairings we suggest Gruyere, Gouda, Swiss, Cheddar and Parmesan.
