Review 2013 Fume Blanc

2013 Fume Blanc

(C$19.95 Incl. tax)
The Sauvignon Blanc grape originated from France’s Bordeaux and Loire valley regions. This Fume Blanc originates from two of the oldest Beamsville Bench vineyards including the Kew estate vineyard and a fifty-year-old vineyard on Mountainview Road.

In Ontario, Fume Blanc must consist solely of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. Harvested midseason and aged in older French oak for eight months, lends a subtle toasted quality to the wine. We believe this wine demonstrates our winemaker’s artistic craftsmanship and showcases the depth of the character of the fruit.

Classic notes of gooseberry and citrus, along with a hint of grass on the nose, soften to notes of ripe mango and candied tropical fruits. With a bright and fresh mouth feel, notes of pear, peach and white grapefruit are complemented by toasty hazelnut on the crisp and fresh finish.

This structured Fume Blanc pairs well with smoked fish, poultry, peppers and garlic. We like to enjoy this wine with pan-fried salmon with a light salsa verde, pasta with vegetables in a cream sauce, smoked trout and autumn soups. We believe that cheeses such as Camembert, Gouda, Gruyere, Parmesan best compliment this wine.
