Made solely from free-run Chardonnay, with two and a half years on lees, this sparkling wine was crafted with the utmost care and skill. It is a gorgeous sparkling wine that is one of the best examples of our winemaker, Philip Dowell's, incredible craftsmanship.
On the nose, there is a beautiful balance of toasty characteristics and a hint of citrus zest. On the palate, a beautiful effervesce complements a minerality only found on the Beamsville Bench. Fresh notes of melon, tangerine and lemon remain on the mid-palate while maintaining a stunningly balanced acidity. The two and a half years this wine spent ageing on lees is evident in the honey-rich, smooth finish.
Our 2018 Amalia pairs well with rich sauces and smoked fishes. Some of our favourite dishes to compliment this sparkling are mild curry chicken salad, mushroom risotto, oysters and scrambled eggs with truffle oil. For the perfect cheese pairings, we suggest Gruyere, Gouda, Swiss, and Parmesan.
