This 2019 Organic Riesling is the third vintage of Riesling sparkling wine produced by us here at Kew Vineyards. Different farming and wine making practices, along with younger vines, gives this dry-style, sparkling wine vibrancy and freshness.
This sparkling wine, crafted exclusively from Organic Riesling from the Young Family Organic Vineyard, is still produced in the Traditional Method, however, it has only 11 months on lees. The high acidity and bright fruit, coupled with a short lees time, creates a sparkling wine that is easy going and incredibly food friendly.
On the nose, notes of ripe, fleshy apple and tropical citrus are complemented by hints of white flower. On the palate, notes of white grapefruit and peach dominate. Bright acidity and minerality combine with the delicate bubble to create a fresh palate and an incredibly smooth finish.
Foods we feel best pair with this sparkling wine are gamey foul, barbecued chicken and light, summer salads. While this wine would also pair beautifully with Thai or Chinese foods, we also enjoy pairing this wine with lemongrass barbecued pork, fish tacos, braised rabbit with a mustard sauce or red snapper. Cheeses that pair well with this wine are Monterey Jack, Blue, and Smoked Gouda.
